Ashwini Pethe

Ashwini Pethe is an architect, urban designer and academic. She is a professor at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, College of Architecture, Pune. She is an alumnus of master’s program in Urban Design and has recently submitted her PhD at CEPT, Ahmedabad. Her research interests are religious studies, rural settlement studies with special focus on Himalayas. She has also researched in the area of performing arts and architecture. Being an urban designer she has been contributing to the city’s public spaces in various ways. Her team is recipient of the Anchor Panasonic IIID national award (2016) for category of ‘Design for masses’, for the design of Pune Arts Plaza. She is one of the founder members of Pune Biennale Foundation. She has groomed the visual arts movement of Pune Biennale, in various capacities since its inception and currently acting as joint managing director.
