Michael Northcott

Michael Northcott is Professor of Ethics in the School of Divinity in the University of Edinburgh Scotland. He researches and publishes in the fields of religion and ecology, environmental theology and ethics, the environmental humanities, and economic ethics. Major publications include The Environment and Christian Ethics (Cambridge UP 1996), An Angel Directs the Storm: Apocalyptic Religion and American Empire (Tauris 2004) A Moral Climate: The Ethics of Global Warming (Orbis 2008), A Political Theology of Climate Change (Eerdmans 2013) and Place, Ecology and the Sacred: The Moral Geography of Sustainable Communities (Bloomsbury 2015). He has been invited visiting professor at the Claremont School of Theology, CA, Dartmouth College NH, Duke University NC, Flinders University, Australia, and the University of Malaya. He directs a vibrant interdisciplinary group of research students at the Edinburgh School of Divinity and welcomes new enquiries on topics close to his research interests.
